 Re: EMDR:Uncovering Long Repressed Memories
Memory itself is fallible so the images emerging in EMDR are not more reliable than in any other form of therapy--or emergence in any other condition. I am concerned about the increase in flashbacks and forgetfulness. You need to discuss these with your clinician. Since you mention "dissociative process" I hope that your clinician is a specialist in this area. It requires specialty expertise in addition to the use of EMDR. Any dissociative process needs to be addressed with special preparation. I am also concerned that you are asking for consultations on procedures. This is something your clinician needs to do directly. There are many consultants available to him/her on procedures, as well as dissociative process. Please speak directly with your clinician.
