It was very thoughtful of you to respond to my query. Thank you for setting my mind at ease. It's wonderful that you choose to answer people's questions on this forum. Your answers to previous questions have made me want to try EMDR. FYI for clients: After interviewing lots of clinicians, I finally found one who, unlike any of the others,**praised me** for asking lots of questions, has an EMDRIA certificate that she can show me, has taken both levels of EMDR training and some advanced training, and (best of all) was not pushy about my setting up an appointment with her IMMEDIATELY. Also, unlike some of the "control freaks" I spoke with, this therapist told me she would work with me according to **my needs and goals**, and reassured me that she would not bring in any "outside help" for the EMDR sessions unless I requested it. This individual came across as warm and supportive, as well as confident about doing EMDR therapy. (She told me EMDR has changed the way she works with clients for the better.) I decided, after talking with her twice on the phone, to make an appointment to see her for an intake session. I am hopeful that this clinician will be as terrific as she sounded on the phone. If you're out there looking for a clinician, my advice is don't settle for anything less than what I have described above.
