I have used EMDR for children with ADHD. I have found it to be quite effective as a stress release. These children have symptomatology similar to traumatised individuals and often are traumatised as well as suffering from ADHD. It becomes very difficult to seperate the two, as often there is family pathology that includes parent/s with ADHD and a chaotic lifestyle that can ensue. Nevertheless EMDR seems to help. I keep sessions for children much shorter (20 mins) and often two to three sessions are all that are required. If the child has been prescribed medication it may help if they are on it for the session to aid concentration. Follow up sessions may be necessary at 6 monthly or annual intervals due to the ongoing nature of the disorder. My feeling is that if we could do EMDR with more children who have ADHD and/or who have been traumatised, we may be able to prevent a lot of hurt and anguish being carried into adulthood and which consequently affect one's choices in life.
