8/21/99 I have a son with Cerebral Palsy, non-verbal, but able to communicate with an electronic device. He was sexually abused over a period of 2 1/2 years at a public school. The abuse occured from 1990 - 1993 at which time we finally understood what was happening. He is now 20 years old, and though he has had counseling and medication, he suffers from flash backs, aggression , anger and confusion. When these flash backs occure he has outbursts from mild to severe aggression toward who ever is with him at the time. He seems to leave the present time and go back to when he was being "hurt". We have tried everything we can think of to help him cope with his memories, but nothing seems to help. I heard about EMDR and have contacted a Clinical Therapist through the Spirit of St. Louis Hospital, but there seems to be little hope with the process working because of limited controled movements of his eyes. We are desparately looking for help, to see if anyone has any ideas or thoughts that may help this process work with the limited control. If anyone has any information, please contact: E-mail: bmhope@yahoo.com Thank you, Sincerely Bonnie McCarter
