Using EMDR without a triggering event?
    Marv · 6/25/99 at 9:36 am ET

My therapist is attempting to use EMDR with me, but we're running into a snag. I'm wondering if anyone can help us. The little kid in me is filled with terror and pain from something a long time ago. I have no memories of any traumatic events. I have no event to use to access my hurt little kid and she's a bit reticent to explode in emotion without some kind of nudge. Is there any way to access that part of me without a specific event and still use EMDR? There was one time that I was very vulnerable and on the edge anyway and using EMDR sent me into the experience headlong. There was no content - only lots of feeling. I'd appreciate any help possible. Thanks
