You can and should ask your psychologist if s/he's been trained and when.
Are they Level I or Level II (there's only two levels) and have they
tried EMDR with cases like yours.

Are they trained to handle your sort of problem generally, for example
do they have experience with phobias (if you have a phobia). You should
feel free to ask, ask, ask.

Or you can try the EMDR website at www.emdr.com
where they list a number to call for clinician referrals.
