Yes, it works fine

I have used EMDR with several children who had mild mental retardation, and I have heard of others doing the same. The procedure seems to work about the same as with others, except that it has to be simplified somewhat, as it would be for younger children. I have heard fewer anecdotes re use with mentally retarded adults, but see no reason that it would be any different. Of course the usual caveats apply!
