    I agree with your statement that EMDR might require a long treatment. For a single trauma one-two or three sessions might be sufficient. But for someone who had multiple mini-traumas over the years maybe even years of EMDR will be needed. I am a patient who was traumatized for years (since age 4 till 15) with sexual abuse by three male family members (I am a woman), grew up in an alcoholic family with a mentally ill mother, with no social support at all. My therapist said that I am a miracle that I have survived it all. She is not surprised that I have bouts of depression and is hopeful that I will be helped w/EMDR.
