There is a great deal of "acting out" on the internet, Rochelle - in part because it's a relatively anonymous environment where people can "let it all hang out." First person accounts of psychological difficulties can be helpful, but trust your gut reactions to what you find online. If you find such information distressing, then move on. There are lots of good books on DID and MPD. Go to amazon.com and look for them. Some of the well-known works (like Braun's books) may be a bit technical or theoretical, but you might find them helpful. Most importantly, you're in therapy that you find helpful. Use that as your primary resource.
