There's an interesting notion in psychology that your home (apartment, room, etc) is a reflection of your internal state of mind... your personality, your psyche. So perhaps the surroundings of those addicted people you describe, Tatiana, say something about their "internal world." And perhaps that conclusion is supported by theories about addiction which state that feelings of emptiness, depletion and desolation lie at the core of addictive behavior.
