This sounds right to me. Back in my grad school days, my advisor Ed Katkin always told us, "There are two types of researchers: lumpers and splitters." While some people like to find general laws that apply to all humans (lumpers), I always preferred looking at individual differences (splitters).... I'll have to think some more about applying the concept of deindividuation to online life. I do like to apply the concept of dissociation.
