Firstly congratulation on recognising that there is a situation that needs some important attention. I can understand on how it must be difficult to get a grip on the situation in a proper manner. Have no fear there are many thing that can be done. First the parents mindset must change, you might be saying "what the!!!!" your child can be helped and taking the approach and saying that he was born like this ....... he will remain like this???? Certainly not, this I assure you.
I remember something that happened at work, a young lady cut her finger badly, two other staff had "panic attacks" and were more then a little concerned and as you can imagine were less than reasourceful in handling the situation.
The effect this had on the person with "the cut finger" was horrifing, fainting was mentioned several times and her face turned white. And the finger bled profusely.
A confident person walked in on this "situation" he had witnessed much worse and had been "trained to handle this situation" saying that it was going to be fine in the proper manner and dealing with the cut finger in a highly adapt way while simutaniously getting rid of the "source" of concern (workers). The person in mild state of shock was able walk, talk and have the finger taken care of by walking to the local doctor just a minute later. The "situation" had an eitherly different perspective.
My recommendation is that you find a qualified NLP (Neuro Lingustic Programmer)practioner who is willing to take on the "situation" and make the intervention nessecary.
