Yes, for sure, it is easy to think the worst, indeed much of history depicts sharp changes in activities of individuals with new technologies and organisatioal systems. It is not unusual to associate destructive forces with an emerging technolgy. The main focus, however, should be on the normalising aspect eg "post acceptance" of the technology.
And lastly, creating and image of how one would like to be seen by others has been around for a very long time indeed, and unlikely to change in the near future
