hi, good catch about that invisibleness :) might be one of the answers to the truly addictive nature of the web. it wont change a bit, in my humble opinion, and if it will ever change, people will always find ways to disguise themselves. you pro'bly know from yourself: do you use your own name in the chat rooms? or just an alias like million others? (i have never used mine, as it occured to me in the dead of the night). invisibleness...'the dark half' as stephen king puts it? a door to our unsocial/anarchist/disobeying/misfit bits and pieces ever oppressed by the daily routines and rituals of the society? hacking/cracking/phreaking/porn/hate sites... i wonder what most of them do at day time, with their cant-be-hidden faces and names. let me sleep over this a bit. regards,
-m.
ps. btw, phd in organizational psych here, mcgill, montreal, canada. nice meeting you, though invisible :)
