"Dissociation" is when a segment of one's personality gets split off and separated from the rest of the personality. This isn't an unusual phenomenon in cyberspace - for example, when people act out fantasy roles which are split off from everything else in their lives. People can LEARN from the fantasy roles they play in cyberspace, only if they integrate those roles into the rest of their personality. But some people keep those roles isolated from everything else in their lives.
