After reading the posts about using a different type of personality online than in ftf life, I thought that it sounded interesting, but that I really couldn't do it successfully, being afraid that it wouldn't ring true to me.
But as I thought about it, I realized that in my choice of messageboards, I've put myself in situations where I'm able to express myself in ways that would most likely get a 'Hmmm, that's interesting' response in most of my daily interactions. It's not that I'm not always like that -- those parts of me just don't fit in all situations with all people.
So I guess even though I'm always being myself, I'm expressing parts of my personality that don't get much action with the people I see day to day.
