    Online names certainly ARE fascinating. One of my favorites was the stark, preverbal:

    [_||_]

    (BTW, those two center lines are supposed to be horizontal, not slanted.)

    At the Palace (a multimedia chat community), gangs sometimes use abstract symbols in their names as badges of membership (colors). Sometimes they choose very esoteric keyboard characters that even experienced hackers have a hard time reproducing.
