Very interesting post, Doug! I really like your description of how you form impressions of other people. "TextTalk" is a fascinating style of communicating (e-mail, chat, or forums). I think it's a bit of an art form. It takes some experience to know how to use it to express yourself (like any form of communication, I guess). I sometimes wonder if people who like TextTalk have a different cognitive style than people who don't like it. Writing skills, of course, is an important factor - but I wonder if it goes beyond that.
