    This forum has been quiet for a while. I wonder what factors contribute to a forum/newsgroup becoming idle? Does lurking feed on itself and blossom over time?

    From what I've seen, these things run in cycles. There's so much on the 'net, that people tend to focus their attention in one area for a while, then browse over to something else for a while, eventually return to where they started... Cycles with a new permutation each time.

    Sometimes those cycles seem to synch up... One particular forum will go idle for a while, then suddenly recharge a little later on. Synchronicity?
