>I think part of JenniCam's ironic appeal is that Jennifer is just being herself and making herself available to whoever is interested. In the posts written by her fans, they feel that they know her and have a relationship with her. One person said that he stays connected to her site all day while he does his work. He feels that she is "with" him, keeping him company... Jennifer also has said that she likes offering an ongoing look into her life as a way for some males to feel like they have a girlfriend.
I do find a certain amusement in finding that there are over 800 links to Jennicam, per Hotbot's URL below.
I did a quick scan of the first 200 mini-descriptions (and a few short hops to some links). Pertaining to the descriptions, it appears that several of the links go to porno sites and some "metoos," (women). I'm wondering if there might be a "JohnnyCam," a male counterpart to JennyCam, who might tap into some women's (and maybe gays') voyeurism and fantasy. I believe a large part of JennyCam's appeal to be her filling that sort of void. BTW, I'm not using "voyeurism" as a judgmental term, just a "peekabo" synonym. The JennyCam fan you referred to who has her site on all the time--it sounds like a certain amount of escapism, a relationship without real-life commitment. Not that there's anything wrong with it. I think we could all benefit from such diversions--connecting or disconnecting with someone who may be more like a TV character. Isn't that what she really is, but a little more personalized?
