re: lurking variations

I wonder what different types or variations on lurking exist. I imagine some people carefully read all the messages in a newsgroup (forum) or mailing list, but never or rarely post themselves. And maybe others just skim or breeze through the messages, and are off to another group. Maybe some people never even consider the possibility of posting, while others agonize over whether they should or not, then decide not.
