Search using the key word "resilience" and you will find a quite a bit on the effects of poverty. I do not have time to search through my files but I recall some very good longitudinal studies with large sample sizes on the subject of resilience one was in Hawaii and another I think was in Washington State. There have been a host of recent books on the subject. The resilience studies look at the protective factors and how individuals overcome their weaknesses and stress. The longitudinal studies look at environmental factors that will increase the likelihood of a child developing a resilient personality. I love the topic. It is very Adlerian. For what it is worth, I hope this points you in a direction. Craig
