Very dangerous? I think this is an exaggeration. It is processed quickly in the body unlike some amphetamines. It is an amphetamine however. There are give and takes when it comes to using medication. Take a 12 year old child who has very little impulse control and is not responding to behavioral interventions; who is socially isolated or outcast because of the behavior; who has a very difficult time catching on to basic social cues and can't figure out why nobody likes him; who is turning to the socially useless side of life for expectance because no one else will. Well, the possibility of turning to far more dangerous and addictive drugs is there. I have been in this situation with parents and have seen the medication do tremendous things when combined with behavioral interventions and social skills training. I do not think it is the best answers for every kid but is the best compromise for some. This is my long opinion. Craig
