Frankl's theory is based on the assumption that an individual strives for meaning. Adler's model of the personality assumes a striving for significance, directed by an unconsicous fictional goal that is already infused with meaning. In Adlerian psychotherapy we gradually uncover the goal and meaning, so that the individual may consciously choose a new direction in life.
