This one in particular hits home with me: Lydia Sicher: As a "non-traditional" grad. student working on my masters in counseling, this quote is very meaningful; but where I am this very day as a person...this quote reflects right where I want to be...striving to grow, change, heal, letting go of certain defenses and maladaptive thinking, feeling, and behavior that at times can be painful, counter-productive, and self-limiting. Thanks so much once again Dr. Stein for all that you do, share, & give.
"While education of the child means formation of his world of values, the re-education of the grown-up who has lost himself on the way means transformation, an inner change, a different way of experiencing life and oneself in it; a process of freeing oneself from safeguarding the ego, thus enabling it to grow, and to mature. (From "The Collected Works of Lydia Sicher: An Adlerian Perspective," edited by Adele Davidson, published by QED Press, second printing, 1992.)
