Adler's concept of organ inferiority was first published in his book "Study of Organ Inferiority and Its Psychical Compensation." He traced the effects on the body and mind of organs and organ systems that were structurally or functionally abnormal. He also speculated on the tendency of the body and mind to compensate for deficiences, frequently by over-development. For more information, read "The Individual Psychology of Alfred Adler," edited by Heinz and Rowena Ansbacher.
