I cannot find any direct reference to Adler's use of aphorisms in therapy, although I suspect he used many forms and sources, including aphorisms, to communicate with a wide range of clients. However, one comment about Adler's style of case analysis that mentions aphorisms, appears in Dr. Crookshank's introduction to The Case of Mrs. R, by Alfred Adler: "If we try to understand what Dr. Adler thinks and means, whether he is addressing us in his native tongue, or in our own, we succeed more perfectly than if we undertake a verbal or grammatical analysis. We come thus best to appreciate the stark significance of some of his aphorisms and judgments, even when they seem to some of his critics most simple and commonplace....."
