Although both the Cognitive and Adlerian approaches deal with faulty thinking patterns, only the Adlerian approach deals with the underlying fictional final goal, and emphasizes the development of the feeling of community. Since Cognitive therapy does not recognize these factors that are central to Adlerian theory and practice, any partnership would be very limited. Check http://psy.ed.asu.edu/~jcp/abs/v5.htm , Journal of Cognitive Psychotherapy: An International Quarterly, Volume 5, Number 1, 1991, An Adlerian Perspective on Cognitive Restructuring and Treating Depression.
