Dear Dr. Stein: I am confused because I am told to work hard and it usually makes me very tense. Is this normal? I try to concentrate and many times my head is still flooded with other thoughts. When I try to relax, I feel as if I'm not working hard enough. Also, when I try to work hard it seems that perhaps I'm what they call "in my head" too much. Hence, I have trouble connecting emotionally to people and events outside of myself. Do you have any suggestions regarding these problems. It would be nice to solve them. My fear is that I have trouble with effort and don't like to push myself to achieve. The strain of the work is difficult to uphold. Many thanks.
