Adlerians need more information than just a presenting problem or symptom to provide any meaningful insight, since we attempt to understand the unique style of life, fictional final goal, and inferiority feeling of the individual who has the symptom. Given sufficient case information (see http://go.ourworld.nu/hstein/quest-br.htm), I see no disadvantages of an Adlerian conceptualization.
