Mu study group has been discussing this question. Dreikurs says that courage is the deciding factor in determining the outcome of any feeling of inferiority. But this does not seem to satisfactorily answer the question. The short ans. I have formulated is that Individual's compensate for Inferiority feelings with additional striving [growth motivation theory] which allows them to overcome some deficit [physical/social - real/perceived] through achievement? This would involve courage and a degree of Social Interest.
In looking at the growth motivation theory - it would seem that individuals respond to feelings of inferiority by compensating with additional striving. In that light would it be correct to say that striving provides the one true compensation for feelings of inferiority?
