And another thing… Where is the fairness to both the therapist and client, in waiting for over a year to have complaints looked at? The complaint should be investigated within 30 days of being filed. Period. No excuses or laziness. You want to be fair to both therapist and client? Then make THAT rule. Where is the fairness in after waiting for a year to have complaints investigated, giving the client less than SEVEN DAYS to respond to any response a therapist will come up with? You want to be fair to both therapist and client? Then make THAT rule. Where is the fairness in boards starting a fishing expedition investigating things the client did not include in the complaint? If a client files a complaint, they deserve to have THEIR ethical concerns investigated, and not some other crazy issue(s) that have anything to do with the issue at hand. You want to be fair to both therapist and client? Then make THAT rule. If you guys can’t even get your act together on these rules, then just throw the damn rules into the trash. Because they are not rules, they are a nasty joke to both clients, and to the integrity of the profession, which at present is lacking in that attribute, when your rules are set up so shabbily. Hey, you guys make up your own rules, not lawmakers, not clients. THERAPISTS MAKE THE BOARD RULES. And the rules are a joke to all involved. In effect, the joke is on the therapist, BY therapists. Rules probably made up by therapists who have little private practice experience and sit in some cubicle or office at the NASW or the APA and don't know a damn thing about what it is like to practice therapy, and come up with these crackpot ideas to justify their paychecks. Do a massive overhaul, or just throw the rules out. And the people making the rules, should NOT be career lobbyists or policy people that you guys pay your dues to every year, who are out of touch with the shrinks. Because where does that money come from you pay the APA or the NASW? It comes from the CLIENT, who pays YOU!
