How much is about control

Here's a topic :) I thought it might be interesting to get some ideas about how much of the attraction with online is in the control. Timing, content, thoughts shared or withheld...do you think that in F2F interaction there is less control maybe? Found yourself in a situation where you feel vulnerable? online vs offline. Let's hear what people think.

I think that's a very interesting observation. In asynchronous communication in particular, some people do like that ability to pace and have greater control over the conversation and how they express themselves.

interesting proposal and something I'm having a look at for my undergrad dissertation. i'll post any findings, but have you looked at disinhibition theory?
